I recently met the founder and owner of Moi Styling at a Little Pink Book Wedding Workshop held at Nantes Estate. After thinking I was pretty much sorted with our wedding, I realised there was one thing which I did not give much thought too and that was Jacques suit and clothing for the wedding. Moi Styling is a formal mens wear stylist service based in Cape Town that not only sells but assists you with mens suits, shirts, ties, etc. to style your fiancé for your big day. Moi Styling does not only specialise in styling men for formal occasions, but also assists with corporate- and casual wear. I instantly knew this would be the perfect place to get Jacques styled.
After informing Rozanne from Moi Styling about Jacques style, sizes and measurements she began sourcing the perfect suit and accessories for our big day. Not long after that we met and she had amazing choices of Suits, Shirts, Ties and Shoes to choose one. After a few minutes Jacques immediately knew what he wanted. Her prices for designer items were incredible affordable, I was quite surprised when she told us the final amount and honestly expected it to be double. Nevertheless I was very happy and so was Jacques. All we have to do is wait for the big day…

I recently attended a wedding workshop hosted by The Little Pink Book at Nantes Estate. One of the amazing featured suppliers was Cape Town based videographers, Vision on Fire. I have heard of Vision on Fire and have watched their videos numerous times. Seeing them at the wedding workshop made me fall in love with their work all over again. Although Jacques and I had already chosen a company to capture our special day on video, I knew something would be missing. After much thought I made the brave decision to unfortunately let go of one supplier only to gain a new one.
We are so excited to announce that Vision on Fire will be shooting our special day. Their work is amazing and you can watch their videos on repeat without being bored and guaranteed to shed a tear every time. If you have an event or more especially a wedding, I strongly suggest hiring these guys. The only thing that remains after a wedding is the memories, photographs, videos and love. I know we will have amazing videos thanks to the team at Vision on Fire. Honestly cannot explain how happy and excited I am to work with them!
Check out my favourite video from their recent work. I have shown it to everyone I have across and hope others can feel inspired from this too. A very big thank you to Ian and his team for being able to capture our special day!
We have some exciting news…I think. Jacques and I recently entered The South African Wedding Show competition from Die Burger newspaper. One lucky couple stands a chance to win a wedding valued at R800 000. This literally includes everything from dresses to rings. It is everything anyone could ever dream of. There are terms and conditions to the wedding though like it needs to take place next year April (our date has been set for November and family from Durban have already made plans to attend this) and you can only invite 100 guests (our guest list is sitting at 150 currently).
Herewith the dates:
13 March – Top 50 will be published
27 March – Top 20 will be published
Interviews will be conducted
17 April – Top 12’s images and motivations will appear in the newspaper and public voting begins *We are going to need your help on this one 🙂
And then 8 June the winner will be announced at the Expo.
When I initially started planning this wedding, I knew the exact theme I wanted to go for; vintage / rustic mixed with class and elegance. I spent hours on Pinterest looking at flowers, table decor and colour schemes. After deciding exactly what I wanted I began the quest for flowers and decor suppliers. Any one who knows me can tell you I lack patience and when I know what I want, I don’t waste time looking around for something else.
I emailed multiple flower suppliers with pictures of what I wanted for my wedding day, when Heike from Fleur Le Cordeur replied saying that one of the pictures I sent her was in fact a picture from her very own wedding, I knew instantly that she was going to be the one!
After visiting Heike at her breathtaking home in Paarl, I knew she would be perfect as our decor and flower designer. She shared similar tastes in home decor as me and also had a love for a gold themed wedding. I was still talking about her for days after our meeting and Jacques insisted I had developed a crush for our florist! Choosing Fleur Le Cordeur to make our wedding beautiful was the best decision I made, Heike has been incredibly helpful from day 1 and is genuinely passionate about what she does!
“I absolutely love the fact that working with flowers is not only the most creative way of expressing myself, but it is also incredibly technical. Different flowers like different temperature water, thrive in different temperature air, some flowers take an hour to open, others take 2 weeks, some flowers like to be cut at an angle, others straight…the list goes on! I love that I am challenged by the complexity of flowers every time I take on a new job with a new combination of risks.
Gold is the definitely making a huge comeback after years of silver ruling the wedding scene. Personally I am in love with gold – and especially gold in combination with pastel colours. Suhaifa and Jacques’ wedding flowers – shades of pastels and different textures ranging from soft roses to harsher fynbos – is very close to my heart as my own wedding was the same varieties and style. I am SO excited to start putting it all together! Not to mention designing the perfect bouquet to go with your rich colourful traditional Indian wedding gown.”
If you are planning a wedding of any function, I highly recommend using Fleur Le Cordeur. And if you think you can do everything for your wedding yourself, then trust me, you really don’t want all that stress on your special day. Leave it to the experts.

Planning a wedding can be extremely fun and also time consuming. Luckily there are so many wonderful websites, DIY projects and free printables available online making planning a wedding the easiest task for any bride. I managed to find a few websites that I thoroughly enjoyed and was the source of my inspiration. After just a few hours I knew exactly what I wanted for the wedding, where to source it, how much it would cost and how to get it. The planning phases literally took a few days and everything was done!
I think the most exciting part of having a cross cultural wedding is all the differences coming together to form something even more unique and beautiful. For a bride, her wedding gown is one of the most important parts of the day. Luckily for me I will be spoilt with not just one gown but two. For the ceremony I have decided to wear an Indian bridal outfit and will then change into a white gown for the reception. Those who know me, can vouch that I either go big or go home, so the decision on the wedding gowns designs have been challenging and gnawing at me during late hours at night and early hours of the morning! White gowns are easily available, easy to design and easy to sew so that is the least of my worries.
For my Indian bridal outfit, I have been desperately seeking advice from almost everyone I can find. I am sitting with the predicament of either going directly to India to buy my outfit or buying it online. You can forget about buying the type of outfit I want in South Africa unless you are prepared to pay triple the price of what its worth. I want a Lengha Choli in a light pastel colour with gold work. I am leaning towards mint or peach. Ideas that I like can be found on my Pinterest Board. The online store that I am considering purchasing it from is cBazaar.com. But I am need of some advice from those who have been to India for outfits or have purchased from cBazaar.
After much careful consideration, we are thrilled to have finally settled on a wedding venue, photographer and videographer. The wedding venue is being kept hush hush for now, but I promise it will blow your mind away!
I will also need a photographer for my mehndi night, for those of you who dont know, this is the night before the wedding. It is very traditional with lots of colour, music, dancing, food and henna painting! Ella who took our engagement party pictures will be taking my mehndi night pictures as well. She is extremely talented and will do an amazing job! Visit her Facebook Page here. I highly recommend her.
After watching one of their “highlight” videos, I knew that this company would be responsible for capturing our special day on video. Storyboard Productions has done amazing jobs for weddings and you can literally watch their videos over and over and over again. Take a look my favourite video that they produced:
